Then I hold the child, soft beating life
And deep within the song begins
Which only ends with passing strife
The instinctive drone of fatherhood
Protect, gather and to provide
The bass contends with halted peace
Reverberates against our meat
Like waves upon the polished night shore
My song laps the weary child's soul.
